There is growing interest in defining and measuring educational quality in the Ontario postsecondary system. Educational institutions and the Ontario government want reliable data to help them identify effective educational practices as well as areas for improvement that will keep students in school, improve their academic performance and increase graduation rates.
While there is considerable discussion about what constitutes “quality” in higher education, HEQCO targets its research on measureable elements that some, but perhaps not all, individuals would include as indicators of quality. Among the issues we investigate:
- Are students satisfied with their PSE experience?
- Do students acquire the knowledge and skills they need to exceed in their personal and professional lives?
