Toronto, September 9, 2013 – Mark Stabile, founding director of the School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Toronto, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO) for a three-year term effective immediately.
A professor of business economics and public policy at U of T’s Rotman School of Management, he is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, Cambridge, Mass., and a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
A former senior policy advisor to the Ontario Minister of Finance where he worked in health, education and tax policy, his current focus includes economics of child health and development, child mental health, health care financing and health insurance. He is the recipient of the Carolyn Tuohy award in Public Policy, the John Polanyi Prize in Economics and the Harry Johnson Prize from the Canadian Economics Association. He received his BA from the University of Toronto and his PhD from Columbia University.
