Cindy Hazell named HEQCO’s interim board chair

Toronto, August 20, 2014 – Cindy Dundon Hazell has been appointed interim chair of the board at the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO).  A member of the board since January 2013, she succeeds Elizabeth Dowdeswell, who recently was named Ontario’s new lieutenant-governor.

Hazell is professor emeritus and former vice president academic at Seneca College and has held a number of other senior positions there since joining the faculty in 1980, including dean of business and dean of continuing education.

She is an external representative of the public on the board of directors for the Ontario Council for Articulation and Transfer and was recently appointed project consultant for the Ontario Online Steering Committee by Colleges Ontario and the Council of Ontario Universities.

She holds an honours bachelor of commerce and a master’s degree in education (higher education) and is pursuing her doctorate in higher education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, with a focus on system design.

The process to identify and appoint a permanent chair is underway.
