Evaluating the Effect of the HYPE Program on Access, Persistence and Retention

This project examines the effectiveness of HYPE: a program designed to reduce barriers to postsecondary education among youth in underserved Toronto neighbourhoods. Phase one of the project entails an in-depth quantitative analysis of the past five HYPE cohorts from 2010 to 2014. Phase two compares HYPE participants’ access to Centennial College, their academic performance once in the college, and retention and persistence alongside those of non-HYPE participants with similar demographic information.
