Spencer Gordon provides editorial and writing expertise in support of HEQCO’s research and communications initiatives, working closely with the research team to guide, conceptualize and frame the results of their projects. Spencer’s experience in postsecondary education includes his work with ONCAT (the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer), where he served as communications specialist, and his time as an instructor at Humber College, George Brown College, OCAD U and with the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies. As a writer and editor, Spencer created and edited the literary journal The Puritan (now Ex-Puritan) for a decade and is the author of three books: A Horse at the Window (House of Anansi Press, 2024), a hybrid collection of dramatic monologues and prose poetry; Cruise Missile Liberals (Nightwood Editions, 2017), a collection of poetry; and Cosmo (Coach House Books, 2012), a collection of short fiction. His writing has also appeared in the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, and the National Post. Spencer holds an MA from the University of Toronto and a BA from the University of Ottawa.
